Bonus-malus lease budget encourages smarter travel choices

Employees at Capgemini can choose between a lease car and alternative transport through a mobility budget. Those who opt for a lease car receive a bonus–malus lease budget. This approach encourages lease drivers to adopt different travel habits: employees are rewarded for refuelling more cost-effectively, driving fewer private kilometres, and adopting more fuel-efficient driving practices.

How does the bonus-malus lease budget work?

With the bonus-malus lease budget, the employer's existing lease scheme remains as the foundation. On top of this, employers can settle the costs of private use and fuel with the lease driver on an individual basis, via Mobility Concept's mobility platform. If an employee drives more efficiently, refuels more cheaply, or covers fewer private kilometres, this works in the lease driver's favour: budget is left over. If driving behaviour is less efficient, or private use increases, this is offset accordingly. This creates a fair distribution of the lease car as an employment benefit, and rewards environmentally and cost-conscious behaviour directly.

For Capgemini, this offers a way to gain control over lease costs without compromising on the attractiveness of the lease car as an employment benefit: employees are given an extra incentive to use it efficiently and responsibly.

Recognition for an innovative approach

Thanks to the large scale on which the scheme was rolled out and its innovative way of working, Capgemini previously received the International Fleet Innovation Award.

Collaboration with Mobility Concept

Capgemini introduced the bonus-malus lease budget in collaboration with Mobility Concept. Mobility Concept manages the budget and the settlement process via the mobility platform, giving both Capgemini and the individual lease driver insight into the accrued budget.
